Why go to therapy?

Life is HARD, that’s why. Everyone can benefit from receiving therapy. We all deserve to have someone who will sit in our corner through our darkest, most challenging moments and celebrate our growth. While family members and friends can do their best, having someone who is willing to give us their full, unbiased attention on a regular basis is a special thing. Not to mention, therapists are trained in evidence-based treatments that work.

We do this job because we believe in it and we have seen how it creates change. Both of us have been on the client side of therapy. We know how vulnerable it can feel to be in your position and we applaud you for your bravery.

Whether it’s working on something specific, like panic attacks surrounding a certain trigger, or helping you explore a lifelong pattern you want to break, we want to be there. At Be Sonder, we want to help you figure it out.

Our hope for you is you walk away from our time together feeling:

  • More secure in being the person that you are

  • Confident in your ability to express your feelings and needs

  • Able to live daily life to the fullest extent

What does trauma-informed mean?

Trauma-informed means we practice from and have been trained in a perspective that understands the significant impact of systematic and individual trauma on one’s life.

We know that someone with trauma will have an entirely different experience of life than someone who does not, and we know that each person responds to trauma differently. Trauma affects people’s ability to function and sometimes makes people behave in ways that are difficult to understand.

Trauma-informed care is important because it is unique to the individual and their experiences versus only treating a symptom. Being trauma-informed simply means we prioritize your safety first-hand and will always ask why behind a behavior.

Can I only do virtual therapy?

Of course! Online therapy allows for flexibility and can be such a great solution for many people.

Some of our clients find the coziest spot of their home, bundle up in their favorite blanket, have their beloved pet nearby, and sip on a warm mug of tea or coffee.

Others utilize lunch breaks or wait out traffic after work to sit out in their car (car not moving, of course.)

As long as you are in a quiet space within state lines, feel safe and speak confidentially, and don’t require a higher level of care, it works!

What if I don’t feel like we mesh?

That is perfectly okay. We would love to help you find someone who you feel you can work well with. Getting you the right help is important. Ask us for a referral!

What if I can’t afford your rates?

Be Sonder offers sliding scale session spots that are based on your individual income. Additionally, we are credentialed with most major insurance panels! We know therapy is an investment that is not a reality for everyone and we are committed to providing affordable mental health care.
